Privacy Policy & Terms of Service

Overview

Christadelphian Library ("we", "our", or "the site") operates two distinct services:

  1. Public storefront — the purchase and sale of physical and digital Christadelphian books and materials
  2. Library Search — a password-protected Bible study research tool available to authorized users only

This document covers both services. Where terms apply to one service only, this is noted clearly.

Privacy Policy

What We Collect

When you create an account or make a purchase, we collect:

  • Name and email address
  • Shipping address (for physical orders)
  • Order history
  • Payment information (processed securely by Shopify — we never see or store your full card details)

When you sign in with Google (Library Search only), we receive:

  • Your name and email address from your Google account
  • A token that allows us to identify you across sessions

We do not receive your Google password, contacts, or any other Google account data beyond basic profile information.

When you use the Library Search, we log:

  • Search queries (verse references, phrases, keywords)
  • Timestamp of searches

We do not collect browsing history, device fingerprints, or any data beyond what is listed above.

How We Use Your Information

Store data is used solely to:

  • Process and fulfill your orders
  • Send order confirmations and shipping updates
  • Respond to customer service inquiries

Library Search data is used solely to:

  • Authenticate your identity and verify authorized access
  • Return relevant search results from our Bible study index
  • Improve search quality over time

We do not sell, share, or transfer your personal information to any third party for any purpose, except as required to fulfill orders (e.g. shipping carriers) or as required by law.

Google Sign-In and BigQuery

The Library Search feature uses Google Sign-In (OAuth 2.0) for authentication. When you sign in, Google shares your basic profile information with us as described above.

Search queries are run against a Google BigQuery database containing an index of Bible verse references extracted from Christadelphian study materials. This database contains no personal information — only book titles, authors, verse references, and file metadata.

Your use of Google Sign-In is also subject to Google's Privacy Policy.

Data Storage and Security

  • Store account and order data is managed by Shopify and subject to Shopify's Privacy Policy
  • Library Search authentication data is stored securely and used only to verify authorized access
  • Search logs are retained for up to 90 days
  • Payment processing is handled entirely by Shopify — we do not store credit card numbers or payment credentials

Your Rights

You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us at christadelphianlibrary@gmail.com. We will respond within 30 days.

For store account data, you may also manage your information directly through your account settings.

Cookies

This site uses cookies to:

  • Maintain your login state (session cookies — expire when you close your browser or sign out)
  • Support Shopify's store functionality

We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

Terms of Service

Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Christadelphian Library, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

Store Purchases

All sales through the Christadelphian Library store are subject to Shopify's standard terms and our return policy as displayed at checkout. By completing a purchase you confirm that:

  • You are authorized to use the payment method provided
  • The information you provide is accurate and complete
  • You are purchasing for personal, non-commercial use unless otherwise agreed in writing

Library Search — Authorized Access Only

The Library Search feature is password-protected and available to authorized users only. Access is granted at the sole discretion of Christadelphian Library and may be revoked at any time without notice.

As an authorized user you agree to:

  • Keep your login credentials confidential and not share them with others
  • Use the service for personal Bible study and research only
  • Not use automated tools to scrape, bulk-download, or systematically copy content
  • Not redistribute, republish, or share downloaded materials with unauthorized parties
  • Not use the service for any commercial purpose without prior written permission

Violation of these terms will result in immediate revocation of access.

Downloaded Materials

Access to downloadable materials through the Library Search is provided for personal, non-commercial study only. Downloaded materials:

  • Remain the intellectual property of their respective authors and publishers
  • May not be redistributed, sold, or published without the copyright holder's permission
  • Are provided under the understanding that authorized users will handle them responsibly

We respect the work of Christadelphian authors and publishers. If you are a copyright holder and have concerns about any material in our library, please contact us at christadelphianlibrary@gmail.com and we will address your concern promptly.

Library Content and Copyright

The library search index contains titles, authors, verse references, and brief excerpts from Christadelphian study materials. Search results may display short text snippets to help identify relevant content, consistent with fair use principles similar to those applied by search engines and digital library services.

Full documents are made available only where the copyright holder has granted permission, the work is in the public domain, or the material has been made freely available by its author or publisher. To submit a copyright concern contact christadelphianlibrary@gmail.com.

Doctrinal Disclaimer

Materials in this library represent the views of their individual authors and do not necessarily reflect the views of Christadelphian Library or any particular ecclesia. Users are encouraged to test all teaching against Scripture. The inclusion of a work in this library does not constitute endorsement of its contents.

Disclaimer of Warranties

This service is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee:

  • Uninterrupted or error-free access to the service
  • The accuracy or completeness of search results
