Tall Julius – his handsome face lit with the cold fire of battle – forged his way down to the cells, and threw them open. “Choose!” he cried harshly, raising his blade high. “Will it be the sword, the sea, or survival?”
Wheeling around, he bolted towards the dim shaft of light from the upper deck, and with a roar of determination over a hundred men rushed after him. Stumbles, staggers, kicked shins – not a man of them felt a thing except the sheer terrified exhilaration of being out in the wild open to fight for the ship. Fight they did, and hard.
As the Master’s hand moves unseen in the dark, dangerous days, one thing becomes clear. It will be the journey, not the destination, that changes lives.
